Jolene get’s her kit off. Almost!

by

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of Katie Garcha.

I know I haven’t written a blog since October but I felt like I was writing about the same things over and over again so I decided to take some time away. Today I had the very gorgeous Jolene in the studio and I have to blog our session.
Jolene is a very good friend of mine and is an absolute inspiration. A few years ago, Jolene was in a very bad car accident in which she was seriously injured. Now, I wont go in to detail because I know she will read this and I hate the thought of her re living the event as I have seen first hand what it does to her. Let’s just put it this way, she is a warrior! And a bloody gorgeous one at that.
Yes I know I am singing her praises but if anyone has shown me that life is to be lived, it’s Jolene. She is one of my best friends and I love her to bits!

Anyway, Jolene is currently over in Cyprus with us for a few months and I have been desperate to try out some boudoir type shoots. So I asked her if she would be up for it and my goodness I am glad she agreed. I am so happy with the result and I hope you all like them too.

Everyone woman deserves to be shown just how stunning they are and I am a true believer that everyone is beautiful.  This is the exact reason I am going to be offering these sessions from March 2016. I want women to come in to my studio, get a make over with a professional make up artist then enjoy having fun whilst I capture every bit of their beauty.

I really hope you enjoy these images :)jolene | Katie Garcha Photography (more…)

The Campbell Family

by

The gorgeous Campbell family came to see me back in December for a studio shoot in order to get some nice photo’s of their daughter in her baptism gown. We ended up doing a full studio shoot so we could include the whole family.
I really enjoyed this shoot and the family were an absolute joy to work with, I must admit it’s refreshing to have clients who bring their own ideas. As much as I love sharing all my own ideas, I absolutely love it when people have their own ideas. Like I always say, they’re your images so tell me what it is you want.

I have not done many family studio sessions lately as most people seem to brave the outdoors. I do love a good studio shoot however I find so many people who find it very daunting coming into a studio and being the centre of attention. I am very easy going and always happy to take a brake if needed, there tea and coffee on hand at all times and with the studio being in my home theres all the comforts of your own home right here.

Christmas Cake Smash 2014

by

Christmas cake smash, oh yes I went ahead with it and so far so good. I am absolutely in love with the work and everyone who has been to the studio has said how much fun they have had. All of this make me one happy Katie and obviously some VERY happy children. Seeing their faces when they walk in the room to find a whole cake just for them, it amazes me every time. The instant mischievous look in their eyes as they look around to see if this is really happening. This is something you just don’t really get with 1st birthday cake smash. One year old babies just want to play with this cool thing in front of them. Older children know it’s bad to play with their food so just want to get right in their and make some crazy mess.
Although one thing that definitely surprised me was the lack of eating that was going on. One year old babies actually eat more of the cake that 5 year olds!!! That shocked me a little but hey they were perfectly happy using the cake as a weapon! I love the joy you see in their angelic little faces when they get mum or dad messy with cake knowing they can’t tell them off! Oops. Let’s call that one my bad.
I have been so, so busy lately and I really wanted to do individual blog posts but I would have at least a week between posts, so I decided to find my favourite from the first three shoots and put them together in one blog post for you all to see.

I hope you like them, Enjoy x

Ewan’s Birthday Cake Smash

by

Today I am talking about Ewan’s Birthday Cake Smash….

The gorgeous Ewan came in for his 1st birthday cake smash recently, after a little period of “why are you all staring at me” he settled into his cake smash and made a royal mess…which we love! He was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed watching his face light up when he tasted the cake and his expression as he enjoyed mushing and smashing the cake to oblivion.

His gorgeous smile was incredibly infectious and his gorgeously cheeky laugh really made my day, once he got in to it, his smashing skills really came out and we had loads of fun.

If you follow my blog you will know just how much I enjoy photographing cake smashes, every single one is so unique and no matter how the child reacts to the gigantic cake they are presented with it always turns out to be loads of fun.

Ewan was no exception, like most, he was a little cautious to start with. Not that I blame him… I mean…. I would be too,  if I was presented with a giant cupcake and told so smash it and make mess all whilst in someone else’s house! We spend so much time cleaning up our babies and making sure they are clear from bogies, and the remains of dinner that when we want them to get messy, they kinda look at us funny.

So….. here are my favourite shots from Ewan’s cake smash, Enjoy xEwan's Birthday Cake Smash (more…)

Baby Jacob

by

I recently had the gorgeous baby Jacob in for his newborn session and what a joy it was to work with such a little cutie. I did a maternity session two weeks before baby Jacob joined us in the world, five weeks early. Baby Jocob’s mummy had exactly the same illness I had with both my babies, it’s not a nice thing to go through and nearly all babies with mothers who suffer from it arrive early. Thankfully the gorgeous baby Jacob arrived safe and well and was allowed home after a couple of days.  This is the first time I have worked with a baby so tiny and I must admit I did have to rethink a few things, all newborn sessions have their challenges as all babies are different. This is why I love my newborn sessions so much, it helps me to grow as a photographer.

Here is a reminder of Rebecca’s maternity session and my favourite images from baby Jacob’s session.
