Happy Birthday Pearl

Happy Birthday Pearl!

Well this gorgeous little girly turned the big ONE last week and we had a mini celebration in the studio. Pearl enjoyed her birthday cake smash so much that I’m pretty sure she would have stayed until closing.
The smiles on Pearls face were so natural and honest, I loved how much fun she was having with her cake and how much she enjoyed being messy. After Pearl had finished making a huge mess with her cake, we brought out the vintage bath tub. And yes, it is a new one! I found this lovely bit of history at The Old Pill Factory, Witney. You can find the website link at the bottom of the page.
I am usually very good at judging who will be a professional splasher and who will just enjoy the warmth of the lovely warm water in the bath tub, well this time I was so very, very wrong. Pearl was an epic splasher, I literally had to take a step back to ensure my camera didn’t get wet. She was amazing!!

All in all we had a wonderful hour in the studio and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with little Pearl. So before I blather on about how much I love my job, here are my favourite images from the day.

Enjoy x

Ewan’s Birthday Cake Smash

by

Today I am talking about Ewan’s Birthday Cake Smash….

The gorgeous Ewan came in for his 1st birthday cake smash recently, after a little period of “why are you all staring at me” he settled into his cake smash and made a royal mess…which we love! He was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed watching his face light up when he tasted the cake and his expression as he enjoyed mushing and smashing the cake to oblivion.

His gorgeous smile was incredibly infectious and his gorgeously cheeky laugh really made my day, once he got in to it, his smashing skills really came out and we had loads of fun.

If you follow my blog you will know just how much I enjoy photographing cake smashes, every single one is so unique and no matter how the child reacts to the gigantic cake they are presented with it always turns out to be loads of fun.

Ewan was no exception, like most, he was a little cautious to start with. Not that I blame him… I mean…. I would be too,  if I was presented with a giant cupcake and told so smash it and make mess all whilst in someone else’s house! We spend so much time cleaning up our babies and making sure they are clear from bogies, and the remains of dinner that when we want them to get messy, they kinda look at us funny.

So….. here are my favourite shots from Ewan’s cake smash, Enjoy xEwan's Birthday Cake Smash (more…)

Hollie’s Cake smash

by

Well I went ahead and bought a whole load of new props….I’m a sucker for anything extra girly and these props really stood out to me. As for this cake smash, little Hollie wasn’t feeling to good about the whole thing. As I have said in previous posts, not all children love the attention and the lights being on them. It can be quite daunting to a little 1 year old, but as I always do, I try my absolute best to get a smile and to make the child relaxed so they can enjoy themselves. It is really all about them and their first birthday after all. I would much rather the child enjoyed themselves than being unhappy and scared, so sometimes the bath tub has to come out. The vintage bathtub that I use is an additional extra that can be added on to either of my cake smash packages. I love it, most babies love it too. If baby isn’t enjoying the cake smash and we know they love water, we swap. This was the case for the lovely Hollie, she wasn’t overly fond of the cake smash and much preferred the bath tub experience.  We soon got some laughs and cheeky smiles and she certainly enjoyed herself, which to me, is the most important part. Here are may favourites from Hollie’s session   Enjoy x Katie Garcha Photography | Oxfordshire | Carterton (more…)

Amaya’s Cake Smash

by

This gorgeous little girl was a little cautious to start off with but she soon got into it, the mess was impressive and I was so pleased with how the Cake Smash turned out. Not all children go straight in for the cake and it can take some children a good twenty minutes before they feel totally comfortable with the whole situation. Please remember that this is a brand new experience and the child is only 1 year old so don’t expect them to go straight for it. I recently added on the vintage bath tub experience to my packages, this is a good opportunity to get the child clean whilst they have a splash and you get some extra pictures of them having some water fun. Below, you will see some pictures of the bath tub in use by the beautiful Amaya. Amaya's Cake Smash | Katie Garcha Photography | Carterton (more…)

Maisie’s Cake Smash

by

You all know by now how much I love cake smash shoots. Well as per usual, I loved this one too, however, this particular little beauty was the best splasher I’ve seen in a while!  As soon as the vintage bath tub came out for clean up time, the splashing began. The studio was soaked and Maisie had loads of fun! All my delicious cakes are made by the wonderful Emma Lewis at http://www.lecakecraft.com Here are some of my favourite images, Enjoy xx Maisie's Cake Smash | Katie Garcha Photography | Oxfordshire (more…)
